Turf Tamers’ story began long before the business name ever existed. At just six years old, Monroe’s introduction to lawn care started as a simple trade. He mowed the family lawn in exchange for horseback riding lessons. Those early trips to the farm sparked something deeper: an appreciation for well-cared-for landscapes and a curiosity about how beauty is created and maintained outdoors.
As Monroe grew older, that curiosity turned into purpose. During his time in the Boy Scouts, he volunteered throughout his community, delivering meals and helping neighbors. Many of those community members soon began asking for help with their lawns. A chance connection with a retired professor of Turfgrass Management further strengthened Monroe’s interest and gave him early insight into the science behind healthy, beautiful turf.
Over time, education, hands-on experience, and exposure to different environments shaped Monroe’s approach to lawn care. His values became rooted in respect for nature, thoughtful practices, and attention to detail. Those principles eventually became the foundation of Turf Tamers, a company built to create outdoor beauty responsibly, consistently, and with pride.
